THE TASTING follows Jacques (Bernard Campan). Divorced and disgruntled, Jacques finds himself teetering on bankruptcy as his wine business begins to suffer. Not feeling particularly inspired by the next stage of his life, Jacques is close to giving up until Hortense (Isabelle Carré) stumbles into his shop. Light-hearted and kind, Hortense works as a nurse – completely enchanted by the babies she delivers, she is determined to find love and have a child of her own.
On a quest to expand her horizons and find a partner, Hortense decides to enrol in Jacques’ wine tasting course and an unlikely connection between the two begins to blossom. Is this just a fleeting romance, or could it be something more?

Day of the Dead, or Día de los Muertos, is a tra

Day of the Dead, or Día de los Muertos, is a traditional Mexican holiday celebrated November 2.
On this day, the life of the departed loved ones is honoured and it is believed that the souls of the dead return to visit their living family members.
Day of the Dead traces its origins back to several thousand years to the rituals of the Aztec and other Indigenous Nahua civilizations of what is now central Mexico.

Today, many Mexicans celebrate this day through the traditions of the past by visiting the graves of deceased loved ones and by setting out offerings and altars which include the deceased’s favorite foods and drinks, photos, flowers, candles and traditional foods such as the sweet and aptly-named pan de muerto (bread of the dead).

La Catrina is one of the most recognizable figures of Day of the Dead, a towering female skeleton with vibrant make up and a flamboyant feathery hat. The Lady of Death worshipped by the Aztecs protected their departed loved ones, guiding them through their final stages of the life and death cycles. La Catrina that we know today came to be in the early 1900s by controversial and political cartoonist José Guadalupe Posada.

Plans for Day of the Dead are made throughout the year. Toys are offered to dead children and bottles of alcohol or jars of alote get offered to dead adults. Most families decorate their loved ones’ graves with ofrendas, which include marigolds. It’s said that these specific flowers attract the souls of the dead to the offerings, and the bright petals and strong scent guides the souls from the cemetery to their family’s home.

Since 2008, the holiday has been recognized by UNESCO on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in honor of this celebration that keeps Mexico's rich history and traditions alive.

The film festival is showcasing a superb selection of the best new films from Italy at Luna Leederville, Palace Cinemas Raine Square, Luna on SX, and Windsor Cinema, from 28 September - 25 October.

¡Viva México! - Día del Grito
Happy Mexican Independence Day!!! 🇸🇳🇸🇳🇸🇳💚🤍❤️

The commemoration of the Mexican cry for independence, originally called “Grito de Dolores” and now commonly known as “El Grito,” is held annually in remembrance of the Mexican War of Independence that started on Sept. 16, 1810.

The Cry of Dolores (Grito de Dolores) occurred when Roman Catholic priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla rang his church bell and gave the call to arms that triggered the Mexican War of Independence.

Today, to celebrate this ocasión, the President of Mexico re-enacts the cry of Dolores from the balcony of the National Palace in Mexico City, while ringing the same bell Hidalgo used in 1810. There are also parades, parties, mariachi music, Mexican folk dancing and traditional foods such as tacos and mole poblano.
