Bossa Nova is more alive then ever through the voice of Brazilian singer Juliana Areias, who returns to The Ellington Jazz Club. Juliana brings with her the magic subtleties, stories and the evolution of the bossa rhythm that has inspired people to sway gently for over 50 years. Known as The Bossa Nova Baby - a nickname given by Brazilian journalist Ruy Castro (author of Bossa Nova's history book Chega de Saudade) - Juliana's love for this seductive music evolved into a desire to become a professional singer after meeting and learning directly from some of its creators.
On board with Juliana Areias on this sensuous musical journey, is a stellar line up of musicians: Glenn Rogers-guitar, Tal Cohen-piano, Paul Millard - sax/flute, Nick Abbey-bass, Michael Boase-drums and the multi talented Brazilian, Marcio Mendes-percussion/backing vocals. To make this an even more sensational night, Juliana is honoured to announce the presence of two of Australia's finest jazz vocalists, Victoria Newton and James Flynn , as her very special guests.
