Language centre open to cultural experiences

The new MultiCultural Language Centre offering French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German and English has opened its doors in Mt Lawley.
Director Liliana Aguirre said lessons would take students out of the classroom, providing cultural experiences that were practical, innovative and refreshing.
"Students will not only learn a new language but also gain cultural information about the countries where these languages are spoken," Ms Aguirre said.
"They are invited to participate in a variety of multicultural events. Some of them include foreign film festivals and art exhibitions, social activities, cooking classes, dancing and sporting events.
"This offers students the opportunity to meet native speakers and practise the language they are learning in live situations."
Classes are for children and adults, with all teachers able to share knowledge of their homelands.
"The languages currently offered at the centre are some of the most spoken and important in the world due to their historical, cultural and economic relevance," she said.
